Roof material
Clay tile is the classic orange terracotta barrel tile. It looks shiny and smooth, and it's more brittle and slower to work than concrete. Concrete tile is usually grey or earth toned, has a duller matte surface, flat or S shaped, and is far more common on homes built after about 1980.

Roughly how steep is it?

Clay tile, flat and foam, and metal or DECRA all take more care and more time, so each carries a 10% adjustment. A steep roof needs harnesses and staging, which adds 20%. Concrete tile carries no adjustment. Anything that changes your price is shown on the quote line so you can see exactly what it came from.

What dirty panels actually cost you
Soiling knocks roughly 5% to 20% off output, and it does not clear itself. Rain does not clean solar panels. It dries into mineral spotting and can bond the dust onto the glass, so an array keeps bleeding output until somebody actually cleans it. On a typical 7kW system at SDG&E's current residential rate of about 48 cents per kWh, that lost production is roughly $250 to $500 a year. One clean usually pays for itself before the true-up arrives. Estimate based on a 7kW system producing about 11,200 kWh a year. Your actual figure depends on system size, how dirty the array is, and your rate plan.
